Cal-Bridge Summer is a summer research program designed to allow California State University and California Community College students to participate in cutting-edge research in a variety of STEM disciplines at one of over 20 world-class partner research institutions. Selected students are paid a stipend and their travel and housing expenses are covered.

Program Highlights
- Receive close guidance and mentorship from an expert at a world-class institution while conducting cutting-edge research in the STEM discipline of your choice.
- Live and work in a new city for the summer and enjoy the cultural and social experiences that come with the opportunity.
- Join the Cal-Bridge scholar community, a group of over 200 like-minded students, most of whom are pursuing a STEM PhD or are preparing to apply to a STEM PhD program through the main Cal-Bridge academic year program.
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for Cal-Bridge Summer, an applicant must be:
- At least 18 years of age by the beginning of the program.
- Enrolled in either a CSU or a California Community College.
- Community college students in the process of transferring to a 4-year institution are eligible to apply.
Application Information
- Required application information includes:
- Contact info (address, email, cell phone)
- Academic information (major, overall GPA, etc.)
- Personal Statement (500 words)
- Undergraduate transcripts (unofficial transcripts accepted; please do not upload password-protected documents)
- Letters of recommendations from two (2) faculty members must be obtained.
- Contact your letter writers early to obtain their consent to write a letter
- You must provide their names and email addresses in your application
- Important note: the system automatically sends an email to your recommenders, and this email may automatically filter into their junk mail folder. Please follow up with your recommenders to make sure they have received the email from us to submit their letters.
- Application deadline is January 31, 2025
